"My paintings are a pathway to my internal world - releasing the feelings, pictures and images of my mind....a look into the artist's heart and soul."
Somewhere between expressionism and abstraction, Lee Britton’s works first begin in her ever swirling imagination of color and form. Gaining inspiration from her travels, people, culture, and nature, her colorful abstract view of the world and her surroundings can be seen in the interpretation of her florals, abstracts, and figurative works.
Originating from a dreamlike idea or image, abstract expressionist painter Lee Britton begins her process with the use of gestural brushstrokes and her keen sense of color relationship while bringing her emotions and experiences of life onto the canvas.
Ranging from expressive abstracts and colorful nudes to playful florals, time is lost and surroundings quieted as she builds each painting through her process of layering color; one bleeding into the next.
“I work through a painting with the use of texture and color relation to create depth and life onto a flat surface. While lost in my internal world of thoughts, color, and images, I find my truest sense of self stepping up to the canvas , brush in hand bringing to life the completed piece of work that I hold in my imagination.”
Watching Lee at work in her studio, energetically working the canvas as she immerses herself into her creative internal world, it’s obvious that she has found her calling in doing what she loves to do.
